- Don't know if it is the manual all in one place, but you should look up
- clip map and texture size for more info.
-
- Clip map will allow you to clip out a logo or insignia or just
- about anything. You basically load the image into a paint program
- and convert all non-clipped areas to black. This is your clip map.
- Black = opague, White = clipped. If this is backwards just select
- the negative image button in the clip map requester and it will
- flip the effect.
-
- This map could also be used as a transparency map. Adding gray
- values to your image map would give various percentages of transparent.
- White= 100% transparent, medium gray = 50% trans, black = opague
-
- The tiling is caused/controlled by texture size and center. When you are
- setting the image map you will see some buttons labeled automatic sizing
- and texture size, center, velocity, and a few others. For simple maps
- the automatic button will be most likely all you will need.
-
- For testing I highly suggest a scene with a 1 meter square polygon,
- a solid background color other than black. Tweaking settings, and
- Low res renders are a fast way to get the hang of things. You can
- always stack the one meter ploygons to see the effects of layering
- various image, clip, diffusion, etc. maps. There needs to be some slight
- distance between the polygons or you may run into some rendering errors.
